Thanks for the Invite, Your Majesty: A Royal Introduction to Kerry Copley

What inspired you to start writing?

I have always had a love of children's books since training as a nursery nurse, where I used to read a variety of authors to small children. Watching their faces light up as their imaginations were sparked. I also had a love of Enid Blyton after reading my mum's childhood books, particularly Folk of the Faraway Tree.

What is the key theme and/or message in your debut title: Thanks for the Invite, Your Majesty?

My story, Thanks for the Invite, Your Majesty, is a book inspiring hopes and dreams. Showing the importance of self-belief and affirmations in shaping your thoughts. But most importantly, how anything can change in a day.

What is the significance of the title?

My title shows gratitude for the little things in life that lead to the bigger things.

What was the highlight of writing this book?

The highlight of this book was how the initial idea was created from watching the Queen's funeral on the TV with my family and the excitement of knowing this was going to be my first book. Who would have thought seeing a little spider would spark my imagination and creativity about all the things I love.

If you could invite three people to a dinner party, who would they be and why?

This is a difficult one, as there are so many people I would love to sit down with; however, my Nana Francess, who passed when I was 5 (who I have referred to as my wishing Nana whilst growing up). My Nana Rita, as she supported all my crazy ideas and loved listening to me talk about the most random things. And Beatrix Potter, as I love how her amazing stories came about during her everyday life and experiences with a sprinkling of imagination.

What do you hope your readers take away from this book?

Believe in yourself even when it seems impossible. There is always light at the end of the tunnel (or in Mani’s case, the drainpipe 😊).

Share something your readers wouldn’t know about you...

I have walked on fire and glass using mind over matter for the charity Wish Upon a Star. This was what made me explore neurology and programming of the brain further.

Have you always wanted to write a book?

Yes, I have had so many story ideas, but this is the first I have completed.

Do you have a favourite quote?

Fight for the Fairytale... it does exist.

Are you on social media and can your readers interact with you?

Yes, I am on Instagram @kerry.copley.author and Tiktok @kerry.copleyauthor.
